Project-Based Learning at CBIProjects in our classrooms, our games, dramas and video creations, are part of a larger mission: project-based learning. Projects bring our learning goals to life. They incorporate revisions and ongoing assessment to help students deepen their learning, raise the quality of their final project and help them reflect on how they are behaving as a student.
Portfolios help us track our work over the year and keep assessment front and center. Portfolios build student engagement and deepens pride in their work. Along with projects and portfolios, we have adopted learning logs that encourage students to reflect on their classwork and behavior. In addition, we have student-led conferences twice this year, in December and again in May. The goals for these student-led conferences are to share classroom activities with families and demonstrate that student feedback and reflections are welcome here at CBI.
